We communicate clearly, explain your obligations in plain English, and ensure you're never caught out by deadlines or unexpected bills.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need to file my corporation tax return?

Your company tax return (CT600) must be filed with HMRC within 12 months of the end of your accounting period. However, corporation tax itself is due 9 months and 1 day after your year-end (or quarterly for larger companies). We manage all deadlines on your behalf and ensure everything is filed accurately and on time.

Can you help me reduce my tax bill?

Yes - through legitimate, HMRC-compliant tax planning. This might include structuring your remuneration package tax-efficiently, claiming all available allowances and reliefs, timing income and expenditure strategically, or ensuring your business structure is optimal for your circumstances. We look for every legal opportunity to reduce your liability.

What is Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and when does it apply?

Capital Gains Tax applies when you dispose of an asset for more than you paid for it. Common triggers include selling a business, selling a rental property, disposing of shares, or gifting assets. CGT rates and available reliefs (such as Business Asset Disposal Relief, previously Entrepreneurs' Relief) vary depending on the asset type and your circumstances. Early planning is crucial - contact us before you make any disposal.

Do I need to do a self assessment tax return?

You need to file a self assessment return if you're self-employed, a company director, earn over £100,000, have rental income, have capital gains, or have other untaxed income. We prepare and file self assessment returns for a wide range of clients, ensuring all reliefs are claimed and the return is accurate.

What are R&D tax credits?

R&D (Research and Development) tax credits are a government incentive allowing companies to reduce their corporation tax liability or claim a cash repayment for qualifying R&D expenditure. Many businesses don't realise they qualify - the definition of R&D is broader than most people expect. We can review your activities and identify whether you have a valid claim.
